I also created new menus and categories, but simplified, since they were also connected with the K2 component. The website with K2 component is actually a subdomain which is an archive of published articles we had from 2011 to 2020.
I made a duplicate of the K2 table content and renamed the columns according to the Joomla content table.
Then I copied the columns needed from the duplicate K2 content to Joomla content.
All I had to change were the categories assigned for each content, which I did manually.
I disabled K2.
This way I was able to upgrade the said site to Joomla 4.
By the way, 99% of the photos inside the article where not lost. Only thumbnail photos that are seen in the front page of the site disappeared. But it does not matter since this site is only for archiving published articles.
I hope that this solution will be of help to those who have problems upgrading their site with K2 component installed.
